Every doctor should use prayer before every trouble, and he should go to a wise man who should teach him that prayer should be fluent in his mouth. Every day he should pour his soul out before Hashem so that Hashem should be amongst his helpers so that he should not err and no destruction should come from his hand and that through him the healing should come about and maybe there is hope. When a doctor is called to a patient he must run immediately like a deer even if it is in the middle of the night.
It is correct for the doctor and all those who enter to see an ill person to show the ill person happy faces and to strengthen him with words so that he should not fear or be afraid as Hashem will help that no bad thing will ever happen to him. He should, however, say to him that it is nevertheless good and effective to enable him to be healed if he prays to Hashem and thinks thoughts of repentance and to pour out his heart to seek atonement from the Master of Masters for He is the true healer and when the ways of a man appease Him then He will send His word and heal him. About one who says this it is written “Fortunate is one who succors the poor person (in this case the ill person), on a bad day Hashem will help him to escape, Hashem will guard him and keep him alive!”
