64 – Bestowing Kindness / Part II, Chapter Two (a)

The Holy One created man such that his actions can resemble Hashem’s attributes, which are all about bestowing good on others (as is written, God is good to all, and: He gives food to all flesh). This is the reason the Torah so urges man regarding the mitzvah of kindness, even requiring that he love it: by following the path of bestowing kindness on others he carries the image of God upon himself; but the person who withdraws from this trait distances himself from Hashem, may He be blessed.

He has told you, O Man, what is good, and what Hashem asks of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d” (Micha 6:8)
