REMUNERATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED ON SHABBATH OR YOM TOV
58.d. 1) It follows that a babysitter or a tutor giving private lessons may receive payment including remuneration for work done on Shabbath, provided there is a firm arrangement for his employment over a period, as described above.
2) Since payment is genuinely for an overall period of employment, the sum due may even be calculated on an hourly basis, including hours worked on Shabbath.
58.e. 1) Nevertheless, one may not, on Shabbath itself, hire someone, even to do work which is allowed to be done on Shabbath, and even if one promises terms which make payment permissible, as described above.
2) If one hires someone before Shabbath, one should not speak with him on Shabbath about the remuneration he will receive for his work, even though it will be paid in a permissible manner together with remuneration for work done on other days of the week.
3) Even to ask someone if he wishes to do paid work for one after Shabbath is forbidden. (See also Chapter 29, paragraphs 51 to 53).
