37.a. Some authorities hold that the Torah required one to have tzitzith only on garments made of wool or linen and that the requirement for tzitzith on garments made of other materials is only a Rabbinical one.
37.b. 1) Even according to this view, however, one may go out into reshuth ha-rabbim wearing a garment made of other materials, to which tzitzith have been attached.
2) This is because, whether the source of the requirement is the Torah or Rabbinical, the wearing of the tzitzith on the garment is obligatory.
