Chapter 19
Specific Laws Relating to the Transfer of Objects from One Place to Another on Yom Tov, Where There Is No Eiruv*
5. A person who generally goes out with a walking-stick, but for whom a stick is not absolutely essential to enable him to walk, should not go out into reshuth ha-rabbim ar carmelith with it on Yom Tov (Compare Chapter 18, paragraph 13.)
6.a. One may carry a box of matches or a packet of cigarettes from one reshuth to another, whether or not there is an eiruv, even though one only needs part of the contents for Yom Tov.
6.b. Regarding smoking on Yom Tov see Chapter 13, paragraph 7.
7. Where there is no eiruv and transfers from one place to another are prohibited on Shabbath, one should transfer nothing on Yom Tov, not even food, unless it is for the use or benefit of a human being (not just for an animal), and then only if it is for a Jew who does not violate Shabbath in public. (See Chapter 2, paragraphs 5 and 6.)
