Chapter 20
Categories of Muktzeh
Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.
MUKTZEH MEI-CHAMATH GUFO
30. Teruma, terumath ma’aser and challa are muktzeh, since
a. one is not nowadays permitted to eat them and
b. due to the sanctity attaching to them, one does not give them to a non-Jew to eat nor feed them to an animal.
31.a. Food which, before it may be eaten, has to be dealt with in a manner not permitted on Shabbath is muktzeh.
31.b. Examples are fruits and vegetables from which one has not yet separated terumoth and ma’asroth (where this is required).
31.c. 1) Bread from which challa has not been separated, and which is made from dough kneaded within the boundaries of what Halacha regards as the Land of Israel, also falls within this category.
2) This is not so if the dough was kneaded outside the Land of Israel, since, in that case, one is allowed to eat the bread, as long as one leaves over enough for challa to be separated after Shabbath.
