Categories of Muktzeh
Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.
BASIS LA-DAVAR HA-ASSUR
49. The succeeding paragraphs contain the conditions laid down by the Rabbis as prerequisites before any article becomes a basis la-davar ha-assur subject to the same restrictions as the muktzeh object that it supports.
50.a. An article does not become a basis la-davar ha-assur unless an object which is muktzeh is placed or hung on it
1) by the article’s owner,
2) by somebody who received his permission to put the muktzeh object there or
3) by somebody who puts it there for the owner’s benefit, albeit without his knowledge and consent, so long as it is plain that he would be pleased with what has been done if he knew of it.
50.b. If one has placed or hung a muktzeh object on an article belonging to another person without his knowledge and consent and without its being for his benefit,
1) that article does not become a basis la-davar ha-assur and
2) it may be moved, subject to the rules set out in paragraph 47b above.
