People normally put their attractive items in their living room, where they can be seen, and the cooking utensils hidden away in a closet in the kitchen. A person who puts his attractive items in a side closet and his cooking utensils on display, would be considered foolish.
A person’s mind is the ruler of all other limbs, there lie his thoughts. If Hashem’s Torah is the focal point of his life, it should be constantly in his mind, and other issues should be brought out only when necessary. A person who thinks constantly about his desires, and lets Torah thoughts in only occasionally, is like the fool who keeps his cooking utensils on display and leaves his attractive items in the closet. The Torah says, ‘And these [Torah thoughts] should be … on your heart’, since they are so beautiful and valuable, they should be on display constantly.
