Hilchos Chanukkah / Kindling the lights (g) – 14

1. On the first night of Chanukkah, the person kindling the lights recites three blessings: L’hadlik, “to kindle the Chanukah light”; She’asah nissim, “Who has performed miracles”; and Shehecheyanu, “Who has kept us alive” (Shulchan Aruch676:1).

2. From the second night and on, only two blessings are recited: L’hadlikand She’asah nissim. However, if one forgot to recite Shehecheyanu on the first night, he should recite it on the second, or on any of the remaining nights, when he realizes that he had not said it (ibid. 676:2).

“Moshe established for Yisrael, that they should inquire and teach the issue of the day, the halachos of Pesach on Pesach, the halachos of Atzeres on Atzeres, the halachos of chag on the chag” (Megilla 32)
