2. Other considerations apply in the case of animals and insects whose bite or sting causes considerable pain but is not fatal.
a. When they are not pursuing any body but one is afraid they may bite or sting someone later,
1) one may put some kind of receptacle over them in order to catch them.
2) a) If it is not possible to catch them, one may tread on them in the course of walking, even with the intention of killing them.
b) However, one must not kill them in such a way that other people will realize that this is one’s
intention.
c) Otherwise people may come to the mistaken conclusion that one is allowed to kill insects or other pests even when there is no fear of their causing injury.
b. When they are pursuing someone and it is not possible to catch them, one may kill them even in the normal way.
