BUYING AND SELLING ON BHABBATH AND YOM TOV
25.a. Subject to the remaining contents of this paragraph, a person may
1) purchase special vouchers, before Shabbath, corresponding to the goods he will need on Shabbath, and hand them over to the shopkeeper on Shabbath, in exchange for the goods he receives, and
2) pay before Shabbath for meals he will eat at a restaurant on Shabbath, receiving, in return, vouchers which will enable whoever is serving in the restaurant to know what items he has to provide.
25.b. These vouchers may not carry any mention of a price, but each may bear an inscription that, in exchange for it, one may obtain a particular food or meal.
25.c. Better still, the shopkeeper or restaurateur should furnish a different-colored voucher for each product or course, so that the items can be identified according to color, without the necessity for reading the vouchers on Shabbath.
26.a. With the exception of food, all items (including eating utensils)
1) which are intended for sale and
2) whose owner is particular not to use them, for example for fear that they may be spoiled,
are muktzeh and may not be moved. (See Chapter 20, paragraph 21)
26.b. On the other hand, items intended for lending out or for hire do not thereby become muktzeh and may be moved.
