Laws of Grinding, Chopping, Crushing and Grating on Shabbath (106)

12.a. Food which grows from the ground and has been well mashed or crushed, either

1) before Shabbath or

2) on Shabbath, in a permitted manner, as described above,

may be divided on Shabbath into small portions, in the same way as during the rest of the week, provided that one does not use an instrument intended for that purpose.

12.b. A banana which has been mashed

1) before Shabbath or

2) on Shabbath, in circumstances which make this permissible (see paragraph 8 above),

may, therefore, be separated into small portions on Shabbath.
