Chapter 6

14.a. It is permissible to chop or mash food which does not grow from the ground, so long as one does not do so with an instrument specially designed for that purpose.

14.b. One may, thus, mash boiled eggs or cooked meat or fish,

1) even with the prongs of a fork and

2) even if one does not wish to eat them until later, provided that one does intend to eat them during the course of that Shabbath. (See, however, Chapter 3, paragraph 31, compliance with which may require the food to be eaten immediately.)

14.c. Cheese may be cut with a special cheese knife, since it is fit to be used as a normal piece of cutlery.

15. See Chapter 8 with regard to mixing mashed banana with cheese, biscuits and so forth.
