Chapter 7
1. As will be seen below, for the purpose of applying the rules relating to grinding, chopping, crushing and grating on Yom Tov, distinctions must be made
a. between
1) food which grows from the ground and
2) food which does not grow from the ground and
b. between
1) food which will become completely spoiled if ground, chopped, crushed or grated before the Festival,
2) food which will not spoil altogether, but will lose some of its taste, and
3) food which will not be adversely affected at all if prepared in this way before the Festival.
