Laws of Kneading on Shabbath (116)

Chapter 8

Laws of Kneading on Shabbath

A. This chapter deals only with the kneading of food on Shabbath.

B. The kneading of food on Yom Tov, so long as it is for consumption on the same day, is perfectly in order.

C.1. The prohibition against kneading applies also to materials which are inedible.

C.2. Examples are pouring water onto earth or cement or mixing them with water. (Actual kneading is not necessary for the prohibition to apply, provided that the conditions set out below, in paragraph 1, are present.)

C.3. The kneading of matter other than food is forbidden both on Shabbath and on Yom Tov.

D. See also Chapter 16, paragraph 4.
