Chapter 8

Laws of Kneading on Shabbath

7.a. One is permitted to add liquid to two substances of the kinds described in paragraph 1 above which were actually mixed together before Shabbath and to thin the mixture by gentle stirring.

7.b. 1) One may, therefore, on Shabbath, mix together peanut butter and the oil which has separated out and risen to the top, or even mix another liquid into it, since this loosens the mixture, but

2) one may not mix soft cheese into peanut butter on Shabbath, since the two combine to form an even thicker substance than the peanut butter was to start with.
