Laws of Lashon Hara / 6: 11-12 (55)

11. Even though one can act upon the words of lashon hara as it may be true, one is forbidden to accept it as fact. As such, he is forbidden to harm or embarrass the subject, he is forbidden to avoid doing him good although, if the words are true he does not need to show him goodwill], and he is forbidden to harbor any hatred towards that person, he is permitted only to be careful and protect himself.

12. One who listened to lashon hara and accepted it as fact, if he wants to repent, he must uproot the information from his mind to the point where he no longer believes it, he should accept upon himself to be careful in the future not to accept lashon hara, and he should confess his sin before Hashem.
