Laws of Lashon Hara / 7; 5-6 (60)

5. It is permitted to accept and believe lashon hara about one who is known to be wicked, that is, he transgresses sins known to all to be forbidden.

6. One who speaks lashon hara and says something derogatorily about himself as well as someone else, the listener is allowed to believe the derogatory words regarding the speaker but not about the person he is speaking about.

 

“Who is the man who desires life… guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully” (Tehillim 34:13-14)
