Laws of Rechilus / 2: 3-4 (88)

3. Some authorities claim that a statement made in the presence of three people is not considered rechilus, however one cannot rely on this, and it is therefore forbidden. Even when telling the incident over to another party, if the speaker’s intention is for the incident to become known to the person who was harmed, it is forbidden.

4. It is forbidden to tell a businessman that his partner wanted to leave him, likewise it is forbidden to tell a bride that her groom wanted to break up the engagement, even when it has already been mentioned publicly, as it will definitely sprout hatred between them. It may also cause the subject misery or harm, which includes the prohibition of lashon hara.
