Laws of Rechilus / 8: 4-5 (105)

4. It is forbidden to tell one’s friend what another person said about him, even if it is not derogatory, if people are generally sensitive to such things. We see an example of this in the Torah, Sarah our Foremother stated ‘and my husband is old’, and the Torah then states ‘and I am old’, even though there was nothing derogatory in her words (as Avraham was truly old), still, he might have been slightly hurt from her words.

5. One who is told something in confidence, even when it does not contain rechilus, he is forbidden to reveal it, he may not betray the speakers confidence who wanted it to remain a secret.

“Who is the man who desires life… guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully” (Tehillim 34:13-14)
