Torah Portion: Bo
You shall not leave any of it until morning (Shemos 12:10).
It is a negative commandment to not leave any of the meat from the Pesach offering until the next day, which is the fifteenth of Nissan, as is written, You shall not leave any of it until morning (Shemos 12:10).
Among the roots of this commandment: It is a remembrance of the miracles of the Exodus from Egypt. The idea of not leaving over any of it is to follow the manner of royalty and ministers who have no need to save their leftover cooked food from one day to the next. The Torah therefore says that if any of the meat was left until morning it should be incinerated, like an item for which one has no need, as is the way of royalty. All of this is designed to remind us and implant in our hearts that at that time Hashem, may He be blessed, redeemed us to become freemen, [simultaneously] gaining royalty and greatness.
This commandment applies to both men and women, when the Temple stands.
