חיפוש בארכיון

Nidchei Yisrael / Ch. 13 – 110

It is an undisputed halacha in Shulchan Aruch that every Jew needs to learn Torah no matter what his life circumstance is, be it destitute poverty, sickness and old age, everybody needs to have a set time to learn. Setting aside time means dedicating that time solely to learning no matter what, even if he might miss great profit. The Torah is compared to bread to teach us just as a person cannot survive long without eating, and when he does not eat one day he feels very weak, so a person cannot survive spiritually without learning every day.

“And the utterly undoubtable truth is that if the entire world, from one end to the other, would be absent of our engagement and delving into the Torah, even for one moment, literally, then all the worlds - both upper and lower - would be destroyed instantly, and would turn into utter chaos, chas v’shalom…” (Nefesh Hachaim)
