The Laws of Arising in the Morning (3)

 1) When one arises in the morning, it is considered to be good to say Modeh Ani (I give thanks before You, the living and permanent King, that you have mercifully returned my soul to me. Your faithfulness is great). After the word “Bechemlah”, je should pause before saying “Rabbah emunasechah”, as this last phrase refers to the fact the Hashem fulfils his promise to return every morning the souls which were deposited in his hands. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berura 1)

2) He may say Modeh Ani even if he has not yet washed his hands, as there are no Names of Hashem or even references to names of Hashem contained in it.

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
