The Laws of Prayer (The morning services) (52)

1. Women are obligated to pray the morning and afternoon prayers, but are absolved from the evening service. Even though they are not obligated to read the Shema, it is a good thing for them to do, so that they will accept the yoke of the kingdom of heaven upon themselves. As regards the additional services, some authorities say that women are obligated and others say that they are not. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 104)

2. When one has children who have reached the age of education, one is obligated to educate them to pray. They are, however, allowed to eat before the morning services. On the contrary, one is not allowed to afflict them by not allowing them to eat before the prayers. (ibid)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
