The Laws of Prayer/Verses of Praise (35)

1) A person who arrives in the synagogue, and finds that the congregation are already finishing the verses of praise, should say Baruch Sheamar, Ashrei, Hallelu es Hashem min Hashamayim, Hallelu Keil Bekadsho and Yishtabach. He should then continue with the blessings on the Shema and onwards in the normal order. (Kaf Hachaim)

2) If he has not even got enough time for this, he should omit Hallelu es Hashem, and if even then he has not got enough time, he should omit Hallelu Keil Bekadsho. (ibid)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
