Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.

ARTICLES WHICH ARE WORN

42.a. One may go out into reshuth ha-rabbim with a pin holding together two parts of a garment one is wearing. (See also paragraph 29 above.)

42.b. It is a common practice to go out into reshuth ha-rabbim. with an ornamental brooch pinned to one’s clothing. (See paragraphs 12 and 24 above and paragraph 48 below.)

42.c. However, there is no justification for going out into reshuth ha-rabbim with pins which are neither securing an article of clothing nor decorative.

 

43.a. It is forbidden to go out into reshuth ha-rabbim on Shabbath wearing a garment with a button whose corresponding loop or buttonhole is torn, if one has the intention of repairing it after Shabbath.

43.b. The same is the case if a button corresponding to a loop sewn to the garment is missing.

43.c. See paragraph 30 above concerning garments with spare buttons.
