FEEDING AND OTHERWISE ATTENDING TO ANIMALS

24.a. As detailed in previous chapters, many activities which are forbidden on Shabbath are permitted on Yom Tov in the course of preparing food.

24.b. This is only the case if the food is for oneself or for another Jew.

24.c. In preparing food for an animal on Yom Tov, one is not allowed to perform an activity which is forbidden on Shabbath.

24.d. Even transferring food for an animal from one place to another is forbidden, where there is no eiruv and an eiruv is necessary.

25.a. One may put food into the mouths of animals which have difficulty in taking food by themselves, but

25.b. one must beware not to move animals incidentally to feeding them, since, as mentioned in Chapter 20 paragraph 40, all animals are muktzeh.
