393. Consistency (2)

The good things which are in the fixing of consistent times to learn Torah is when that time is fixed for him to learn where he will not change it or swap it, and even if he has a large business and thinks that he will make a large profit during that time, he should take no notice or turn back from fulfilling his fixed time to learn for any reason. However, if he has any extra free time he is obligated to use it to occupy himself with Torah and the time that he fixes for Torah does not absolve him from the Day of Judgment which is great and awesome, and even if he occupied himself with Torah for most of the day, and he will give account for even the smallest amount of wasted time.

A man who is a member of Klal Yisrael and believes in the Torah and the words of Chazal that Hashem will bring everyone to judgment for everything, will have pity on his own soul and the honor of his Creator and listen to the words of Chazal and flee from sin and do good with all of his entire being, and his soul will have pleasure in the pastures. Every good thing needs strengthening and overcoming his evil inclination every day, and one who comes to purify himself receives help from heaven.

“My brothers and my nation, take this sefer Torah, and with this, and like this learn well, so that you should have it good; listen and enliven your soul, and achieve gladness and joy in this world and the world to come” (From the author’s intro.)
