REMUNERATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED ON SHABBATH OR YOM TOV
48.a. There is a Rabbinical prohibition against receiving remuneration for work done on Shabbath.
48.b. The prohibition is applicable even if there is nothing wrong with the actual performance of the work on Shabbath.
48.c. It is forbidden to receive the remuneration even if, before the commencement of Shabbath, one agreed to carry out the work on Shabbath and to take payment for it after Shabbath.
48.d. The reason for the prohibition is that accepting payment in such circumstances has an affinity with the execution of a commercial transaction, which is itself forbidden on Shabbath or Yom Tov.
49.a. While it is the person accepting payment who violates the prohibition against receiving remuneration for services rendered on Shabbath.
49.b. the person making the payment is also guilty of a transgression, in leading his fellow Jew into sin.
