Hashem does not withhold the reward for any good deed, and one receives reward even for nice speech and a good thought. On the other hand, Hashem does not overlook any bad deed, even if it is minute, as Hashem will bring us to justice on everything. People should be very worried about the day of judgement and rebuke, for they will be brought to account even for those sins which a person tramples with his heels, and have become like permitted activities.
A person should consider that if he would ask any member of the Jewish nation to tell him the value of one good deed, he would answer that it is greater than all of the objects in the world, and everybody knows that Hashem pays good reward to the righteous, and a bitter punishment to the evil people, and nevertheless sometimes people’s deeds are exactly the opposite, as they do not guard themselves from sins even with the amount of effort that a person would exert to avoid losing one zuz, and they will transgress a commandment in order to earn one zuz, and they will not chase after a good deed even with the amount of effort that a person would invest in order to gain one zuz. Sometimes they do not fulfil the commandments such as praying with a quorum, responding Amen, performing kind deeds, etc. and not learning Torah above all, even for no reason whatsoever.
