Chapter 28

A Miscellany Including Stationery, Clocks, Noises, Baby Carriages, Remuneration and Advance Preparations

REMUNERATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED ON SHABBATH OR YOM TOV

60.a. The position is similar when one rents eating utensils for use at a dinner to be given on Shabbath.

60.b. One should ensure

1) that the rental period starts a number of hours before Shabbath begins, or continues after Shabbath has terminated, and

2) that there is an overall fee for the whole period.

61. One may accept remuneration which covers both work done on Shabbath and preparations one had to make before Shabbath.
