Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.

32.a. Some authorities hold that it is permissible to go out with a handkerchief wound around one’s shirt sleeve to hold the cuffs together in place of a cuff link or a button.
32.b. One may wind a handkerchief around one’s leg to hold up a sock or stocking, in place of a garter or suspenders.
32.c. In both of these cases, the handkerchief must be performing the relevant function alone, and these devices cannot be adopted if the cuffs are connected by means of a cuff link or are buttoned together, or if the sock or stocking is supported by a garter or suspenders.
32.d. Care should be taken, in winding the handkerchief around one’s arm or leg, not to violate the prohibition against tying knots on Shabbath and Yom Tov. (See Chapter 15, paragraphs 52 and 53.)
