Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.
MISCELLANEOUS RULES CONCERNING
THE TRANSFER OF OBJECTS
52.e. 1) If one can, one should not bring the object into a reshuth ha-yachid, but should leave it outside, in a safe place, until after Shabbath.
2) If one is afraid that the object will not be safe outside, and that one will sustain a loss, one may bring it in, so long as one does so in an unusual manner, for instance
a) by letting it slip into reshuth ha-yachid from one’s hand or pocket,
b) by putting it in one’s shoe,
c) by tying it to one’s leg or
d) by placing it between one’s clothing and one’s body.
52.f. 1) Sometimes, the circumstances can be such that one has no time to transfer the object for a distance of less than four amoth at a time.
2) This may occur, for instance, where it is dangerous to be outside or when one is being pursued.
3) In such a situation, if one stands still in reshuth ha- rabbim after realizing that one in carrying the object, there is no alternative but to leave it where it is.
4) On the other hand, if one is still walking when one realizes one is carrying the object, then one should,
a) without stopping, quickly run home, or to any house on the way, and,
b) again without stopping, throw the object into reshuth ha-yachid in a manner one would not normally employ.
