Chapter 18
Specific Laws Relating to the Transfer of Objects from One Place to Another on Shabbath, Where There Is No Eiruv
Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.
MISCELLANEOUS RULES CONCERNING
THE TRANSFER OF OBJECTS
54.a. 1) It is permitted to give a prayer book to a child (under thirteen if a boy and under twelve if a girl) to take to the synagogue for his or her own use, provided the child will not have to take it through an area which fits the definition of reshuth ha-rabbim contained in Chapter 17, paragraph 3.
2) Once the prayer book is in the synagogue, an adult may share its use with the child.
54.b. With this exception, there is no justification for giving an article to a child so that he should carry it in a place where the transfer of objects is forbidden.
