Categories of Muktzeh
Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.
NATURE OF MUKTZEH
2. There are two distinct types of prohibitions involved in the laws of muktzeh:
a. a prohibition against eating or using an object and
b. a prohibition against moving it.
3.a. Since the rules relating to the laws of muktzeh are too numerous to be listed in detail in a work of this nature, this book limits itself to setting out the general principles and to specific practical examples.
3.b. The rules concerning muktzeh on Shabbath and Yom Tov are identical, with the exception of certain differences mentioned in Chapter 21.
4.a. There are four main categories of muktzeh
1) keli she-melachto le-issur;
2) muktzeh mei-chamath chesron kis;
3) muktach mei-chamath gufo;
4) basis la-davar ha-assur
4.b. These categories are the subject of the following paragraphs.
