Categories of Muktzeh

Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.

BASIS LA-DAVAR HA-ASSUR

53.c. 1) In certain circumstances where a loss would otherwise be suffered, one may be permitted to rely on authorities who hold the view that an article does not become a basis la-davar ha-assur if one’s intention is that the muktzeh object

a) should remain on it for the whole of the period between sunset and the time when the stars come out on Friday night, but

b) should be removed by a non-Jew or shaken off during the course of the Shabbath.

2) A duly qualified rabbi who is competent to give a decision in such matters should be consulted to ascertain whether such circumstances exist.
