Chapter 20
Categories of Muktzeh
Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.
BASIS LA-DAVAR HA-ASSUR
67. When a drawer containing muktzeh objects also has in it non-muktzeh objects which are of more importance to one, it is not a basis la-davar ha-assur and may be opened and closed. (See paragraphs 47 and 55 above.)
68.a. Where a muktzeh object is lying in a drawer on top of an object which is not muktzeh-not because one particularly wants it to be on the non-muktzeh object but because there is not enough room elsewhere in the drawer -one may, in case of need, shake off the muktzeh object, in order to take out the non-muktzeh object underneath. (See paragraph 52 above.)
68.b.1) This is so even when the muktzeh object is more important to one than the non-muktzeh objects in the drawer
2) However, in that event the drawer must already be open, since it is a basis la-davar ha-assur and one would not be permitted to open it. (See paragraph 64 above.)
