Chapter 29: Laws Derived from Isaiah: Running, Walking (703)

GOING TO A PLACE IN PREPARATION FOR AFTER SHARBATH

9.a. 1) On the other hand, it is permitted, while walking along the street, to look for a particular shop, even if one’s object in so doing is to be able to locate it and go into it immediately upon the termination of Shabbath.

2) One may not, however, wait at the shop entrance for Shabbath to end.

9.b. 1) One may look at merchandise displayed in a shop window, even if one’s intention is to find something one wishes to buy after Shabbath.

2) One may not, however, pay attention to the prices. (See paragraph 44 below.)

10. One may wait under a bus stop shelter in order to take refuge, for instance from the rain or the sun, even if one intends to board a bus as soon as Shabbath ends.*

_____

*One must, of course, make suitable arrangements to avoid carrying a ticket or money on Shabbath.
