General Principles Relating to Muktzeh on Shabbath and Yom Tov

OBJECTS MISTAKENLY THOUGHT TO BE MUKTZEH

18. Consequently, if one erroneously believed that fruit in one’s possession was not allowed to be eaten because it was orla, and on Shabbath one discovered that the fruit was not arla after all, it is not muktzeh and may be eaten.

19.a. Where a doubt arises as to whether one may eat food into which something forbidden has fallen, one should ask the opinion of an appropriately qualified rabbi

19.b. Even if the doubt arose before Shabbath and the rabbi’s ruling, permitting the food, was not obtained until Shabbath, one may both move and eat the food on Shabbath.
