Halachos of Pesach Sheini – 16

1. Pesach Sheini, “the Second Pesach,” falls on the fourteenth of Iyar. In the Temple times, those individuals who had been unable to bring their Pesach offering in Nissan [such as those who had been impure or on a distant journey] would bring their Pesach offering on this day and they would eat it at night, which is the night of the fifteenth of Iyar, along with matzah andmaror.

2. Like the standard Pesach offering, this one similarly overrides Shabbos, is eaten roasted, may not be left over, and one may not break any of its bones. However, it is permissible to have chametz in one’s house at the time; Hallel is not recited while eating it; and it may be moved to a different location (Rambam, Hilchos Korban Pesach).

“Moshe established for Yisrael, that they should inquire and teach the issue of the day, the halachos of Pesach on Pesach, the halachos of Atzeres on Atzeres, the halachos of chag on the chag” (Megilla 32)
