132 – Chessed with Utensils / Part II, Chapter Twenty-Two (c)

There are some people who refrain from lending out their utensils even when they do not need them now because of their miserly nature. That is a very negative trait. But there are some people who are not by nature miserly, but they are lazy and do not want to put in the effort to do this type of chessed. And although such people are not all that low, nevertheless the light of chessed does not shine upon them, for if they would know how great this trait is, they would not have refrained from doing as much good as they can to their fellows, and they would be happy at every opportunity that Hashem sends them to do chessed.

He has told you, O Man, what is good, and what Hashem asks of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d” (Micha 6:8)
