The satisfaction of a person with only what is absolutely necessary for him is a good character trait-a glory for those who do it in this world and the next. This characteristic must be applied both regarding clothing and food and drink, as we are only living temporarily in this world, like a guest turning aside to rest on the way. What possible purpose would be achieved if a person would waste his energy and days building spacious, beautifully decorated houses, when the man himself will end up being buried in a space which is only one cubit squared, in a land of darkness and the shadow of death. Would it not be better to use that money to build himself a faithful house to be able to enjoy the next world which is completely good. What is the achievement of wearing embroidered clothes, and running after different sorts of pleasures and food and drink, for the pleasure of a short moment? Would it not be better to prepare one’s soul with delicacies for the end of days, and his soul can enjoy the pastures and be blessed in a world which is completely long?
