Chapter 18

Specific Laws Relating to the Transfer of Objects from One Place to Another on Shabbath, Where There Is No Eiruv

Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.

ARTICLES WHICH ARE WORN

41.a. It is prohibited to go into reshuth ha-rabbim wearing an article of clothing if

1) a cord with which it is secured has torn and is unusable in its existing state, and

2) one intends to repair, after Shabbath, the remains of the cord still attached to the garment,

41.b. The rule is identical when the loop by which one hangs up a garment has snapped.

41.c. The principle is the same where

1) one of two ribbons which are tied together to secure an article of clothing is torn or pulled off,

2) the ribbon which is still attached to the garment is useless by itself and

3) one intends to replace the torn or missing ribbon.
