Housekeeping and Use of Domestic Facilities on Shabbath and Yom Tov.
REPAIRS
32.a. 1) It is forbidden to take off the door of a house or of a large cupboard, or to take off a window, on Shabbath or Yom Tov.
2) A door or a window which has come off may not be reinstalled and is muktzeh. (But see Chapter 20, paragraph 43.)
32.b. 1) Similar prohibitions apply to the removal and replacement of door handles*, although
2) a handle which is made to be inserted in, and withdrawn from, a door as and when necessary may be used on Shabbath and Yom Tov and is not muktzeh.
32.c. There is nothing wrong with using a “keyhole lock” (a lock that is inserted into a keyhole, where it is locked into position), even if it is made in two pieces, one of which is detached, leaving the other locked into the keyhole.
33.a. A shutter which becomes defective or comes out of its track may not be repaired and is muktzeh.
33.b. One is not allowed to open or close the lid of a shutterbox (the box into which a shutter rolls up when it is raised).

*If the handle has come out of a door and one is unable to open and close it, one may use a screwdriver or some other keli she-melachto le issur for the purpose, but not, of course, to effect any repair. (Ser Chapter 20, paragraphs 5, 7 and 8.)
